The Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering has a strong interdisciplinary approach to research, both theoretical and applied.
In the field of Materials Science and Engineering the main research areas are: metals and alloys, ceramics and glasses, polymers, composites, fracture mechanics, failure analysis and materials processing.
In the field of Chemical Engineering the main focus is on: chemical reaction engineering and catalysis, transport phenomena, biotechnologies, electrochemistry and electrochemical conversion of energy, corrosion, safety and environmental engineering.
